Music Ministry:The Atlanta Street Baptist Church's music program has been under the direction of Danny E. Peterman since 1991. Danny came to "ASBC" from First Baptist Church - Woodstock, Georgia where he had been involved with the music program for over ten years. During those ten years he served as organist for seven years, Children's Choir coordinator/director for three years and served as Interim Music Director for the Sanctuary Adult Choir and worship services on two different occasions for three years.
Danny's philosophy of music is very simple… "There is no music that we can't do… if we first dedicate it to the Lord!" Danny leads our congregation into worship by allowing us to experience the joy and majesty of beautiful hymns, sprinkled with fresh new choruses, combined with choral selections of today's contemporary artist's even to relive ole time favorite "Southern Gospel"selections from our past. Music is critical in preparing individuals hearts to receive the word of God…our traditional worship service never let's us down.
Over the past thirteen years, Danny has challenged those associated with the music program to incorporate acting into our musical presentations to include the making of costumes, learning make-up techniques, and creating lighting and set designs for Easter and Christmas pageants.
Choir members will tell you…Danny loves his choir members…and will do whatever is necessary in getting you to fall in love with the music that honors Jesus. Danny doesn't know the phrase… "We'venever done it that way before!" Choir members also say… "Danny is constantly challenging us to make ourselves available for service. Danny's bucket recognition and attendance reward program makes attending choir worth while. Danny's humorous approach to teaching music and heartfelt love for us individually makes all the difference."
There is always room in the choir for individuals willing to give of their time, talents and energy as music ministers.
